PFU Limited (President and CEO: Eiji Hirahara, hereinafter PFU) today, July 14, released ScanSnap Camera, a new smartphone-based document digitization feature available in ScanSnap Cloud countries.(1)
Available at no cost through the mobile version of ScanSnap Home, ScanSnap Camera enables users to instantly digitize paper documents simply by capturing them with a smartphone camera. Even people who do not own a ScanSnap scanner can use it anytime and anywhere.
Using image processing technologies developed through the ScanSnap series, the service delivers a fast, intuitive, and seamless digitization experience directly from a smartphone. In addition, captured documents can also be saved in searchable PDF format.
ScanSnap Camera expands the simple and intuitive ScanSnap digitization experience to more people.
Key Features
Scanner-free document digitization
Even people who don’t own a ScanSnap scanner can instantly start the ScanSnap experience using only a smartphone. Users can easily digitize a wide variety of paper documents, including receipts, business cards, notes, contracts, and photos.
ScanSnap-quality image processing
Using image processing technologies developed through the ScanSnap series, ScanSnap Camera automatically applies corrections such as automatic cropping, automatic rotation, de-skew correction, background removal, and automatic color detection.
Instantly create searchable digital files
With printed text OCR, ScanSnap Camera automatically creates clean, searchable PDFs from every scan. Users can quickly search for file names across saved scans, making it easy to find and organize documents digitally. ScanSnap scanner owners can also send scans directly to supported cloud services.
